Illustrative / Abstract Magazine Cover – “Wave” Surf Magazine
This project presents an illustrative and abstract cover design for the surf magazine Wave, centered on Hawaii as the issue's main theme.
The overall project explores the theme through three design approaches—photographic, illustrative/abstract, and typographic—each with its own visual language while remaining clearly recognizable as a surf magazine.
The illustrative cover uses stylized elements such as waves, volcanoes, and landscape forms to create an emotional and interpretative representation of Hawaii.
Soft pastel colors convey warmth, harmony, and a calm atmosphere.
Typography is adapted to the illustration, combining modern, clean typefaces with subtle serif accents. Text colors are drawn from the illustration’s palette, creating a cohesive visual system. The result is a playful, modern, and harmonious cover that evokes emotion and instantly communicates the Hawaiian setting.
